Life without Halloween

This is our first year not doing Halloween. And I’m floundering.

It’s hard answering the kids’ questions. They understand we don’t do it any more, and why not. But I still don’t know how to answer some questions. Like:

Is it bad to look at the decorations in the stores?
Is Trunk-or-Treat okay, or nothing with costumes?
Why does our church do trunk-or-treat if we’re not allowed?
Are we allowed to build the haunted house craft at Lowe’s?

We are doing other autumn-inspired crafts and activities. We’re not lacking anything there, because I have Pinterest. It’s just hard to know where the line is between Halloween and Fall sometimes. Like pumpkins are okay, but not if we carve them?

I’d love to hear from other families what rules they have, if any, about Halloween.
