Mission Trip to Kosovo

Byron recently had the opportunity to go to Kosovo on a mission trip, to help a new church get started there. Our home church here in Germany has been helping the new church overcome their obstacles, as Christianity is increasingly persecuted in Kosovo. Here is his story:

This is the home of our host. The Kosovar people are very family oriented, so it's not uncommon to have 3 generations of people in the same house. The pastor of the church lives here with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.

From the landing, you can see what the Americans call "Mount Duke". There is a lot of beautiful countryside in Kosovo.

A very common dish is called "Burek". It consists of some flaky pastry bread and cheese or meat or potatoes stuffed inside. It's yummy.

This was the first service in their new building. They had previously been meeting in the pastor's house for many years. There ended up being 71 people who attended the first service. It won't always be this high, but it's good to see people come together.

This is Burim translating for Jessie Massey. Jessie is a member of our church in Germany who coordinated the trip, and has been actively supporting this church for over a year now.

They have literature in Albanian and English to help answer questions about the church and Christianity. A lot of the people that will come here won't be familiar with these concepts.

After the service, everyone gathered for a meal prepared by the congregation's women. It was a huge affair, and everyone talked for hours.

The young people of the church spent a lot of their free time playing ping-pong in the church basement.

The guys watched El Clasico, where FC Barcelona ended up beating Real Madrid, and Messi scored a hat trick.

The Kosovar people were amazing. They had true servant hearts and real passion for Christ. This trip was a huge blessing to me.
