Koblenz, Germany

We went to Koblenz today, which is about an hour north of where we live in Wiesbaden.

We went to visit Festung Ehrenbreitstein, an old fortress on the hill overlooking the rivers. There is also a really awesome playground there, so it was a perfect choice for us.

We arrived and parked in one of the parking garages downtown. I love the underground parking here, especially when you come up and see that you parked under a cute little square like this one. Isn't that so much better than the huge 8-story parking garages?

We took a long, quiet walk along the river.

Then we took a ride on the Seilbahn, the cable cars that go across the river and up to the fortress.

We could see where the two rivers met. The darker river is the Mosul and the lighter river is the Rhine.

When we got to the top, we stopped for a picnic lunch. The kids all had a blast running circles around this round bench.

There were pretty red flowers along the paths.
